March in the gardens

katie2955

March has been a month of delight in our gardens! We found ourselves immersed in the soothing embrace of nature's warmth, nurturing our green companions with care and joy.

Our soil has thrived with a blend of compost, worm castings, and other organic treasures, awakening a vibrant community of microorganisms that sustain our ecosystem. Witnessing the first hints of green on the trees, and the eager bulbs pushing through the soil, has filled us with anticipation for the bountiful season ahead.

The children have been eager explorers, delighting in the tastes of freshly grown broccoli, sorrel, and chives before their March break adventures. Meanwhile, our esteemed senior members have joined us for work bees, learning and contributing under the guidance of our master gardener, Connie Kuramoto, whose recent coastal trip has enriched our knowledge and practices.

Our greenhouse has been a hub of activity, nurturing seedlings of various herbs and greens using the soil blocking techniques. March has truly been a month of productivity and joy in the garden, and we eagerly anticipate continuing this journey into spring with all of you. See you in the Garden!
